Health graduate Anna Murgan has fortified her career prospects. “Future Skills Academy helped me to be better prepared for situations I would encounter at my workplace.” The programme has equipped her with the ability to react and respond in a professional manner, she says.
Fiji-born Anna works as a Health Care Assistant and a Personal attendee to babies. She nurtures toddlers and children with medical conditions. An interest in mental health prompted her to complete the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) with a strand in Mental Health and Addiction Support. “In this way, I was able to continue to upskill myself.”
Anna says the flexible programme structure allowed her to fit study around her work schedule. The lessons were enjoyable and run in a safe environment, she says. “The tutor was very supportive at all times. I got to make new friends who came from different cultures.” Learning to do group work encouraged teamwork, she says, along with building confidence in speaking out constructively.
In her leisure time, Anna delights in visiting family and friends, travelling and dabbling in cooking. She relishes learning new things and loves working with children.
