A Future Skills Business Intelligence student has designed a product to help property buyers make big decisions.

Yue (Rita) Han came to us with a background in accounting.

“As an accountant, I work with large datasets on a daily basis. The ability to learn from the numbers and gain valuable and actionable insight is very critical for my job,” she says.

This drew her to our suite of Business Intelligence micro-credentials, which teach learners how to take raw data and use it to answer real-world questions.

Rita first enrolled in the Data for Decision Making micro-credential. She says she loved how the course was designed.

“I get the opportunity to work on a real-world project, whereby the objective of the project is not just to clean and analyse data, but to provide and present usable insight to stakeholders in a way that is valuable and actionable.”

She designed a data product to evaluate the Real Estate market from the mortgage lending perspective.

Her project revealed behaviours, trends, and LVR risks for different borrower groups including first-home buyers and investors from 2014 to 2022. It looked at how changes in interest rates had affected the market.

“The data product also makes a trend analysis on the impact of supply and demand, lending policy, and interest rates on the housing market for the general public.”

Rita says these insights can help different types of borrowers analyse the latest market conditions and combine historical housing market movements to make the most beneficial decisions for themselves.

“Furthermore, borrowers can also consider the policy changes as they relate to mortgage interest rates and LVR to balance their own lending risks.”

Overall, Rita was very pleased with everything she achieved during the hands-on programme.

“The course is very interactive and practical. It reinforced my knowledge of some basics and also upskilled me on the latest trends and technologies in Business Intelligence.”

She plans to continue her learning with Future Skills by completing another micro-credential in our Business Intelligence suite – AI-Powered Analytics. In the future, she would like to transition into the data analytics field.
