Awsiya Syed’s new knowledge of Business Intelligence is helping him to take a step up in his career.
He’s recently completed the first programme in Future Skills’ new suite of Business Intelligence micro-credentials.
Awsiya already holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and has worked with data for some time. His previous job in patient administration at Auckland District Health Board required using Microsoft Excel and doing some data wrangling.
He’s recently moved into a job where he specialises in Data and Administration.
Our Business Intelligence micro-credentials have taught him about tools he can use in his new job including Microsoft Power BI, a data visualisation software.
He’s also now experienced in using Power Query in Microsoft Excel and Power BI. This tool allows you to import data from several sources.
Awsiya worked on a project about plane crashes from 1908 to 2009 as part of his qualification, looking at patterns and causes. He carried out exploratory data analysis and created dashboards.
“We learned Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and also some Structured Query Learning basics which are definitely going to help me in my new job,” he says.
Awsiya says he’ll soon be stepping up the ladder into a Business Intelligence role within his company.
