Mere Vaipapa had always yearned to travel and work in the tourism industry. But the first lockdown prompted her to change direction and study for the NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5).
After graduating last year, she was offered three early childhood centre educator positions. Mere chose to work at Best Start on Auckland’s North Shore where she is relishing her job. She has combined work with learning to gain her teaching degree. As the diploma was equivalent to the first year of study, she has now almost completed the second year of the degree with the support of her employer. Mere is thrilled that she decided to pursue a degree.
