It’s Anzac Day on 25 April. The day is held to remember New Zealanders killed in the war and pay tribute to returned and serving service personnel.
The date we honour our fallen soldiers marks the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand soldiers or the Anzacs at Gallipoli in 1915. About 2779 New Zealanders perished during the Gallipoli campaign, approximately one in six of those who served. Aucklanders can pay tribute to our veterans by visiting a local cenotaph and laying a poppy or observing a minute’s silence to honour service personnel. Here are the Anzac Day Parades and Services across the region.
