"I’ll never forget this year with this school. It was fantastic."
Originally from Iran, Parvaneh Ghahramanian built a rich tapestry of experiences before embarking on a programme of study at Ashton Warner Academy.
While living in Iran, she worked as a nurse assistant and at a fabric cutting factory, while caring for her younger siblings at the same time. Parvaneh says these roles instilled in her a deep commitment to caregiving and understanding diverse cultural perspectives.
After moving to New Zealand in 2006, Parvaneh sought to expand her knowledge and skills in a completely new environment. With that in mind, she chose Ashton Warner and Future Skills to delve into areas that interested her.
Now having successfully completed the NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 3), and currently studying towards the Level 5 diploma while working, she says she is not only equipped with essential skills but has also enriched her understanding of New Zealand’s cultural values.
“My time at Future Skills has been transformative. I also greatly value the supportive community and dedicated staff who helped me navigate the challenges of adapting to a new educational system.”
Parvaneh says she feels empowered by her achievements and the skills she’s gained, which have given her the confidence to pursue new opportunities.
After graduation, she hopes to apply her skills in a business or community-focused role, particularly in education or caregiving, where she can continue to make a positive impact. Her advice to prospective students is to embrace the learning journey and seek support when needed.
“The Future Skills community is fully dedicated to helping everyone succeed and to pursue their dreams.”
For Parvaneh, her journey to date exemplifies resilience and the transformative power of education.
