"I’ll never forget this year with this school. It was fantastic."
Minfen (Jane) Cao spent more than 20 years as an accountant prior to enrolling to study Early Childhood Education with us.
After moving to New Zealand, she completed a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 4) as well as a Certificate in Business Studies.
She then decided she’d like to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. She enrolled in Ashton Warner Academy’s NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5), which she’s been studying at our new Takapuna campus.
Jane says it has been an amazing feeling, challenging herself to gain new knowledge that is unrelated to her previous work and study.
“The teachers at Ashton Warner Academy have impressed me with their professionalism, kindness and passion in helping students to achieve their goals.”
She says the biggest challenge she faced during her study was some limitations with her spoken English.
However, her teachers helped her realise that she just needed to practise.
“Therefore, I made up my mind to speak with others, especially native English speakers, as much as possible.”
Jane says her programme is giving her essential knowledge and skills relating to the care and education of young children.
She looks forward to starting a new career in Early Childhood Education.
