Construction student Akshay Surana landed a job in the industry before he even completed his degree.

Akshay will finish his Bachelor of Construction with a specialisation in Quantity Surveying this December.

He’s already employed as an Estimator and Sales Professional for a residential head contractor.

Akshay says his studies have been immensely beneficial in securing the position.

“I am actively engaged in work that closely aligns with my academic pursuits.”

He says the degree offers an extensive construction management and quantity surveying curriculum, which encompasses a comprehensive spectrum from foundational principles to advanced concepts.

“Furthermore, the faculty has proven to be exceptionally supportive and resourceful.”

Akshay had no prior experience or knowledge in the field of construction prior to enrolling with Future Skills Academy.

“Undoubtedly, my studies at Future Skills have been instrumental in equipping me with the expertise and understanding necessary for a career in the construction industry,” he says.

His advice to other students looking for work in his industry is to focus on fundamental quantity surveying subjects such as Measurement, Estimating, and Advanced Measurement.

“Simultaneously, pursuing certifications like Cost X and RIB Candy can significantly enhance your prospects in the industry.”
