“My best advice would be to talk to others. Students might get some insights unexpectedly during a coffee meeting with their friends which might be helpful for their paper.”
Ashish Subedi has landed an internship that aligns with his creative background just weeks after arriving in New Zealand from Nepal.
The Master of Applied Management student is passionate about graphic design and turning people’s ideas into an aesthetic reality.
He has just joined the premium New Zealand honey company Bee Positive as a Graphic Design Intern with the help of the Employability Centre at our Auckland International Campus (AIC).
Ashish has a graphic design and digital marketing background, with prior experience at Encoders Inc. and CodeKavya. He has previously completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration in Nepal.
Employability Manager Dani Mao says Ashish secured the internship aligned with his skill set in branding and creative content just weeks after starting his studies in New Zealand.
“This quick success highlights how international students can leverage their past experiences and take early action to gain local industry exposure. Their journeys can serve as a great inspiration for their peers,” says Dani.
Ashish says he always wanted to study in an international environment to see the world, gain new perspectives, and adapt his thinking to an ever-evolving world.
“The best thing about studying at AIC is the classroom environment and the interactive way of learning which allows one to explore themself.”
After he graduates, Ashish hopes to find a job that aligns with his passions and allows him to use his education in productive ways while making the most of his skills.
