It’s Pink Shirt Day- an antibullying campaign led by the Mental Health Foundation with support from several other organisations. The spotlight is on celebrating diversity and creating environments where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. Every year, workplaces, communities and individuals join the movement to say no to bullying.

Bullying is a grave problem in Aotearoa. Every year, one in 10 people report they have been bullied at work with New Zealand holding the third-highest rate of school bullying out of 36 OECD countries.

Pink Shirt Day started in Canada in 2007 when two learners took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was persecuted for wearing pink.

Today, New Zealanders are encouraged to Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!

Future Skills Academy staff donned pink attire to commemorate the event. They sampled pink refreshments and took part in a quiz.
