Dr Omer Altaf holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Auckland. He has 12 years of teaching, facilitating, and research experience in civil engineering, construction management, and quantity surveying.
He is an active professional member of Engineering New Zealand, the NZ Geotechnical Society, and Buildings NZ. Omer is also working closely with the engineering industry and local councils for different projects and has recently completed liquefaction assessment projects with Auckland and Marlborough district councils.
Omer's research interests include earthquake geotechnical engineering, liquefaction, and building information modelling (BIM).
Born in Pakistan, he came to New Zealand eight years ago to excel in his academic and engineering research career. These days, besides his passion for teaching and research, he is a fitness enthusiast and nature-lover who likes to explore different cultures and make good connections with others.
